Web Conferencing

The introduction of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has paved the way for various advanced modes of collaboration. Among them is web conferencing. Through web conferencing, people are able to conduct presentations or lectures, hold meetings, or simply carry out a mini reunion of sorts.

There are two ways to experience web conferencing. One is to download certain software while the other one only requires you to go to a particular URL. If the conference is meant to be two-way, for example if it should be conducted in a conversational manner, then you would need either a speaker and a microphone or a headphone with a built-in mic. For a better interaction, then you might want to throw in a web cam as well.

Aside from allowing you to actually hear and see the other party in real time, web conferencing also enables you to easily share files such as text, presentations, spreadsheets, videos, mp3’s, and many more. This capability, more than anything else, has made web conferencing one of the most popular collaboration systems of high-tech organizations.

Slow Internet connections have prevented many people in the past from enjoying this technological advancement. However, since the proliferation of broadband Internet, even the masses have already gained access to this technology.
